Paddy Kilmurray, barrister, Southport QLD

As a barrister based in South East Queensland, I practise primarily in commercial and civil litigation. I also maintain an active practice in criminal and family law, including appointments under section 102NA of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth). I have conducted criminal jury trials and appeared in both parenting and property matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. I draw on a diverse professional background to inform my practice across these areas. Before relocating to Queensland, I practised as a solicitor in a general litigation firm in New South Wales. I served as chairman of the Newcastle Hunter Rugby judiciary and represented the NSW Country Cockatoos in 2012, which deepened my understanding of sports law and fair play. My seven years as a journalist, working as a presenter in both NSW and Queensland, provided valuable skills in communication and storytelling - essential tools in the courtroom.
